Blog 119 block design & features
Blog119 is a text-first author archive built with Shadcn UI Button components. A compact header pairs a small round portrait with the author's name, role and company, and location, followed by a short biography, with an RSS follow button and square icon buttons for website, Twitter, and LinkedIn aligned to the right. Below an "Archive" heading, posts are grouped by year: each year appears as a large number with a post count in a narrow left column, and its posts run in a ruled list to the right, each row showing the title, category, and read time with the publish date aligned to the far edge.
The archive has no images at all, relying on type size and hairline rules to create structure. The large year numbers act as anchors down the left side, and the rows read like a ledger with the dates lined up in one column. Titles underline on hover.
It has a quiet, bookish character that suits writers with a long back catalogue, and the year grouping is a less common take on an author page. Complexity is low and content-driven: it needs an author portrait, a bio, and a list of posts with years, dates, and categories, but no post images.
On phones each year label sits above its list and the date moves under the title.
