Gallery 80 block design & features
Gallery80 is a slideshow with a digital, low-resolution transition. Built with shadcn/ui, it shows a mono eyebrow and heading above a wide 16:9 frame, with the current title and print number on the left underneath and a row of small square markers and outline arrow buttons on the right.
Changing slides does not fade. The new photo appears block by block in a random order over about a second, like a slow download or a screen refresh, until the whole frame is filled. The block size is a prop, so the effect can be fine and subtle or chunky and pixelated. The canvas redraws sharply when the frame is resized, and the dissolve is skipped for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
It has a retro, tech-art character that suits exhibitions, digital studios, and photography series. It needs a set of wide images with a title and a short credit line each.
