Gallery 78 block design & features
Gallery78 lets visitors choose how to view a set of photos. In this shadcn/ui block, a heading sits beside a segmented switcher with grid, list, mosaic, and stack options, each with an icon. The selected option is marked by a highlight that slides between buttons.
Switching layouts animates every photo from its old position and size to its new one on a spring instead of re-rendering the page. The grid shows portrait cards with a title and meta line, the list shows small thumbnails in a ruled column, the mosaic packs the photos into a bento with hover captions, and the stack fans them into a deck of overlapping cards.
It is satisfying and practical, suited to archives, asset libraries, and portfolios where different visitors want different views. It needs a set of photos with a title and a short meta line each.
