Coverflow 50 block design & features
Coverflow50 is a vertical drum carousel built with shadcn/ui and motion. A single column of nine black and white 3:4 photographs sits centred on the page with no heading or caption, fading out at the top and bottom, so the images carry the whole section.
At rest the photographs form a smooth cylinder turned on its horizontal axis, with the nearest one facing and centred. As the drum picks up speed, every other photograph folds forward and its neighbours fold back, so the surface opens into pleats in proportion to how fast it is spinning, then closes back into a smooth drum as it slows and snaps to the nearest image. A fast vertical drag flings it with inertia, the wheel over the column turns it directly, and scrolling the page spins it while it is on screen. The arrow keys, Home and End work when it has focus, clicking a neighbour brings it to the front, and when left alone it turns a few places every few seconds. It loops endlessly in both directions.
It suits photographers, fashion labels, galleries and editorial sites that want a striking image column with a bit of motion. It needs a set of portrait photographs that work well together, ideally in one tone.
